Project overview
The tallest structure in Japan and the tallest freestanding tower in the world, Tokyo Skytree was built to secure reliable digital broadcasting for the Kanto region after the switch to terrestrial digital television. Its lattice steel form tapers from a wide tripod base to a slender shaft, with two observation decks at 350 and 450 metres offering panoramic views across the Kanto Plain to Mount Fuji on clear days.
